2011 Resolution: Volunteer!

Need some volunteer hours for stuff like college applications? Maybe you just want to give back to your community?

Here is a site that can help you find volunteer opportunities that involve everything from animal rescue to disaster clean-up to art classes: VolunteerMatch.

And, remember, the Garden City Library is always looking for great teens to help us out!

Happy New Year!

Been bitten?

Hey teens!

If you've been bitten by the Twilight bug...er, vampire...werewolf...whatever, you are probably as excited for the release of Eclipse as we are! In fact, we're so excited, we're throwing a party!

We'll meet in the Community Room @ 2p.m. Wednesday, June 30th! We'll watch New Moon, and I'll be giving out fun prizes throughout the movie!

Teen Tech Week: Energy Seed Workshop!

Hey all! Register for the Teen Tech Week Energy Seed Workshop here!

We will concentrate on the diverse ways of producing technology that is not a burden to our environment, but instead works with it to improve our lives and help decrease the damaging footprint of material usage and energy spent every day.

We'll each be making a small handmade lamp called an “energy seed” that uses the left over energy in dead batteries to light itself for sometimes weeks on end! (How cool is that?!) These lamps are great examples of creative projects that make use of technology in ways that help us learn and maintain wonder about the world we live in.
